I am about to embark on summer. Son has ended instruction in school and is in finals week. Daughter graduates from elementary school this Friday. I have one more week after that and I am off for 10 weeks.
We sat in my living room yesterday, son, daughter, the ex and I, trying to parcel out the time. I want to do everything of course, because I always want to do everything. Because I lust for life.
WARNING: This lusting has its upside but has also been known to cause a little ignoring of the limitations of this life.
So I laid it out there: Sleep away camp for the kids for two weeks while I go to Philly, then upstate to a yoga retreat then to visit a friend. Then in a few weeks California, Washington and maybe Yellowstone. Then back to NYC and off to Florida to visit the grandparents. Then back home and works starts.
When we put it all out there trying to coordinate, added in things the ex wants to do, plus the fact that son is working as a CIT this summer it got really overwhelming.
I thought, Oh, maybe I am trying to do too much. Hmmm wouldnt be the first time.
Am I doing too much? Will I come out of the summer completely frazzled and unrested? Why is it so hard to accept ones own limitations? And the limitations of the stupid time construct?
