because I believe in full disclosure: I'm really 50 years old, but run (well, swim, bike and rock) with a younger crowd. If you're looking to become a mom in the next year or so, I may not be your man; but if something deep and meaningful develops, well, I have a solid track record: my kids are beautiful and caring people.
because I can whip up a healthy and delicious meal with just about anything in your fridge; I can also do the same for your dog.
because I believe in the culture of the handmade, not the mass produced, whether it is in art, music and food.
because I'm disciplined enough to swim for 40 minutes a day, and slack enough to drink a glass or two of whiskey every night.
because I'm well known in a field that nobody really cares much about.
because I truly care about living clean, and buy carbon credits every time I travel by plane or car.
because I'm kind of impulsive, and not into drama or games.
because if I like you I'll try to touch your fingers or your hair on our first date, but will only kiss you if you make a move.
because I truly believe that "Amarcord" is the most perfect movie ever made, and would jump at the chance to live in that town (even if it was fascist Italy...)
because I'm generous to a fault, and a pretty good listener.
because I love live music and will go out to hear it 3 - 4 nights a week.
because I'm about as close as you can come to being an atheist, yet still pray regularly to some kind of indifferent power in the hope that if I'm wrong, this power will know that even though I didn't believe in it, I still acted as if I did.
because those canvases by Mark Rothko with luminous colors floating in space make me swoon. But then again, so do the meticulous patterns of a Sol LeWitt wall drawing.
because I know about making mistakes, purposely and inadvertently, and I always make good on them; I believe in full disclosure and responsibility.
because I'm not really much different than anybody else, but I do have some interesting stories to tell.
My Ideal Person:
I don't have a huge laundry list, just that you truly be "available." If you work really long hours, weekends, holidays, returning home wiped out, I'm probably not your man. If you're high energy and like to try new things, don't mind taking a risk on a movie, music or food, then let's get in touch.
The last great book I read "The Omnivore's Dilemma" - a wonderful book about the state of our present food culture and its possible alternatives.
My most humbling moment Trying to save a family member's life, and failing miserably.
Favorite on-screen sex scene Haven't seen enough that were more engaging than real life, although I heard "Debbie Does Dallas" has some pretty lively moments.
The celebrity I resemble the most Thomas Pynchon
The best or worst lie you've ever told: My great-great grandfather was the noted anarchist, Alexander Berkman.
If I could be anywhere right now swimming across a cold body of water, maybe in Ireland, while my beloved waits for me on the shore with a towel and a flask of fine scotch.
or, more locally, in my kitchen, experimenting with some new dish.
Five items I can't live without salt, my beater bike, a warm hat, hope
Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier. me in a tight shirt; you in my tight shirt
